Understanding the concrete mixes:

  • Grade/Class: This represents the designation of the concrete mix.
  • Compressive Strength: Measured in N/mm² (newtons per square millimeter) or MPa (megapascals) after 28 days, this indicates the maximum load the concrete can withstand before crushing.
  • Typical Uses: Describes common applications for the concrete mix.

Choose from our full range of concrete mixes:

  • General-purpose concrete grades: Gen1, Gen2, Gen3
  • C-grade concrete: C8, C10, C15, C20, C25, C30, C35, C40 C50
  • ST mixes (standard prescribed): ST1. ST2,ST3,ST4, ST5
  • FND grades (sulfate-resistant foundations): FND1 to FND4, FND1Zto FND4Z
  • PAV grades (pavement use): PAV1, PAV2
  • RC mixes (reinforced concrete): RC25 to RC45
  • Specialist options: No-Fines (permeable concrete), Screed, and Road Foam
  • Limecrete: an alternative to concrete

Most concrete mix designs use the same type of raw materials; cement, water & aggregate (usually sand and stone), in different ratio’s. Some types of concrete have additional materials added to give specialist qualities such as: fibres (extra strength), plasticisers (free flowing, better workability), retarding agents (reduce rate of setting), accelerating chemicals (increase rate of setting), and corrosion inhibitors (reduce corrosion of steel rebars), ensuring every batch performs exactly how your project requires.

Different Types of Concrete Suppliers:

On-Site Mixed Concrete:

This concrete is mixed at the site of your project, this allows us to alter the mix as we go along.

This is a batch of concrete created beforehand, at our batching plant. It is designed according to the specific requirements of the customer.

Volumetric Concrete:

Mixed in a volumetric truck whilst on site, ensuring a fresh mix every time. No waste, you only ay for what you use.

When calculating the amount of concrete required, we recommend adding an extra 5-10% onto your total estimate to allow for possible errors as well as spillage or over excavation / uneven surfaces.
